Empowering Vision, Transforming Lives: Kolmarg Eyesight Foundation Leads Medical Outreach in Jos

Kolmarg Eyesight Foundation, in partnership with COCIN Barnden Memorial Hospital, the Alliance for Community Enhancement (ACE), Advantrix Designs Company Ltd, and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, successfully carried out a two-day medical outreach under the Empower Vision Initiative in Jos, Plateau State. The outreach, which took place on the 5th and 6th of December 2025, was designed to improve access to quality eye care for residents of Busa Buji and surrounding communities in the Jos North Local Government Area. Throughout the programme, beneficiaries received free eye screenings, consultations, medications, and reading glasses, while eligible patients also underwent cataract and pterygium surgeries.

The initiative recorded over 600 patients, many of whom had previously faced barriers to accessing professional eye care services. For several beneficiaries, the outreach did more than restore sight — it restored confidence, independence, and the ability to participate actively in daily life. A dedicated team of medical professionals and volunteers worked tirelessly across the two days, ensuring smooth service delivery, patient counselling, and post-surgical follow-up support. Speaking on the impact of the programme, Kolmarg Eyesight Foundation’s Executive Director, Prof. Olukorede Adenuga, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to community-centred eye-health interventions. He emphasized that improving vision health not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens households and communities.
The Empower Vision Initiative demonstrates the power of multi-stakeholder partnership in delivering sustainable healthcare solutions. By combining expertise, resources, and shared commitment, the programme continues to expand access to affordable and equitable eye care across Nigeria. Kolmarg Eyesight Foundation remains dedicated to advancing eye-health awareness, strengthening outreach programmes, and ensuring that no one is left behind due to preventable vision loss.
